C. caulescens is a smallish species with a deciduous habit. The plant is lack of pseudobulb and has only two small leaves at the terminal. The growth emerges from the ground and bloom during the start of monsoon season. This vegetative growth will die down in the dry season. All these characteristics indicate a close relationship with both C. macrorhizon and C. lancifolium.

In Thailand, the species was first reported by Seidenfaden from specimens collecetd from an island in the Gulf of Thailand. Previous report was discovered from the west of Thailand. These photographes were taken from Pang Nga on the Andaman coast of southern Thailand, at the begining of May.
