Cymbidium lowianum (Rchb.f.) Rchb.f. is a large species with regal beauty. It has numerous large flowers, 8-10 cm, on an arching or pendulous inflorescense. The prominent character is its red crimsom V-shaped patch on the lip. Their flowers are also long lasting.

Flowering Period : January to June (depending on its locality and climate pattern).
Distribution & Habitat : Found on large tall tree branches and trunks in shady montane forests at elevations of 1200-2400 metres in Burma, Yunnan and Thailand.

Cym lowianum is a cool growing plant and cannot survive the heat of tropical lowlands.
