Cymbidium Prapuy Luang is a cross between C. Tender Love and C. ensifolium subsp. haematodes from Thailand. We made the cross and registered the name after an ancient ruins of Prapuy Luang Temple, formerly a royal monastery of Sukhothai Kingdom in northern Thailand.

C. Prapuy Luang is a compact plant with flowers that are large for the plant size. Interestingly, C. Prapuy Luang’s floral shape, substance and colour resemble that of C. sanderae. This is an indication of the dominance of C. sanderae, though the plant has only 25% of its background from C. sanderae, with the remaining 75% from C. ensifolium. The spike habit is quite variable as in some seedlings are upright, some are arching, and some are horizontal.
C. Prapuy Luang is a slightly fragrant and quite capable of blooming year round, with a peak bloom from August to March. Surprisingly, their flowers can last fairly long in the tropical heat.
