Cymbidium Uthong is a primary hybrid between two rarely used miniature species from the tropics, C. chloranthum and C. dayanum.

C. chloranthum is a rare species with a reputation of shy-blooming characteristic. However, C. Uthong is a free blooming hybrid with blooming peak from May to December, when grown in Bangkok.

The hybrid has a nice foliage and can form a big clump quickly. It is not uncommon that each bulb of C. Uthong can produce two spikes.

For hybridizing aspect, C. Uthong has a potential to breed complex HTCs with clean white or geen blooms.
