Habenaria Regnieri is a primary hybrid between Habenaria carnea and Habenaria rodocheila. Usually, it is very rare to find a hybrid from this overlooked terrestrial genus. The two parental species occur at different geographical locations. Habenaria carnea is from the far south of Thailand whereas Habenaria rodocheila is from the upper northeast.
Regnieri has a wider growing period and greater vigor over its parental species, from being a heterosis hybrid. Though flowers are delicate, they are very long lasting!
They like to grow in shollow soil-like medium. However, in our growing condition, we grow them in a mix of small pumice rocks, rice husk and tiny charcoals as these mediums do not break down so fast and drain well.
